Hear a fascinating story of Canterbury's first Polish settlers in the 1870s.

Polish Ancestry EncounterProfessional heritage storyteller and descendant of one of the Polish settlers Margaret Copland will present Portrait of a Pioneer, the story of the life of a migrant family: their journey from Europe, their hardships, and their contribution to Marshlands and Canterbury. Margaret will explore Marshland's development from bogs to arable land and the Polish legacy of today's market gardens.
