The Work of the Registration Team

Canterbury Museum Friends Talk

This talk took place on 4 August 2020.

Canterbury Museum cares for more than 2.3 million objects on behalf of the people of Waitaha (Canterbury).

Scott Reeves

Registrar Scott Reeves

Our Registration Team keeps track of them all and ensures every taonga (treasure) – from the tiniest insect to the enormous blue whale skeleton – is properly looked after.

In recent years the Registration Team has been responsible for uploading our collection information and images to our Collections Online platform, which offers a new way to access hundreds of thousands of objects that aren’t on display.

In this talk Registrar Scott Reeves will shine a light on the Museum’s inner workings and explain some of the ways you can use explore our collection online.

Scott has worked in the museum industry since 2000, focusing on collection management and registration. As Registrar, he champions our data, making sure we know what we’ve got and where it is. He’s involved in access to the collections in a variety of ways, from loans to online.

Places at this talk are limited so please register below if you are keen to attend.

This talk is hosted by the Friends of Canterbury Museum.
