Canterbury Museum is in central Christchurch on the east end of Hagley Park. Christchurch is the largest city on the South Island of New Zealand. We are in the Canterbury region of the South Island.
Canterbury Museum is in the Cultural Precinct with the Arts Centre of Christchurch, Christchurch Art Gallery and the Botanic Gardens close by.
How to get here
Christchurch's bus service provides convenient and affordable travel into central Christchurch. Some routes include the Museum and the central bus terminus is just 10 minutes walk from the Museum.

Parking closest to the Museum:
- Pay and Display parking on adjacent streets
- Free parking for 3 hours in the Botanic Gardens (use Armagh Street entrance)
- Christchurch Art Gallery (paid)
There are two disabled parking places outside the Museum on Rolleston Avenue next to the entrance to the Botanic Gardens entrance.
Canterbury Museum is a 10-minute walk from Cathedral Square and central Christchurch hotels. From the Museum it is a short stroll to the Botanic Gardens, The Christchurch Arts Centre and Christchurch Art Gallery.
