A hunt for ancient taonga (treasure) around central Christchurch, with clues and puzzles hidden across five much-loved attractions.
Time Detectives takes children on a journey through history in search of million-year-old creatures, ancient artefacts and a mighty T-Rex.
Puzzles and activities can be found at Canterbury Museum at CoCA, Tūranga, the Botanic Gardens Te Māra Huaota o Waipapa, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū and the Teece Museum. The trail is set out in a special booklet that can be collected for free from any of the venues.
Avid treasure hunters can use the book to collect a special stamp from all five places once they have unraveled each mystery.
Time detectives will be taken back hundreds of millions of years as they hunt dinosaurs in Canterbury Museum at CoCA. Search the Museum for an animal that lived 485 million years ago, the life-sized cast of a Tyrannosaurs rex skeleton, and an axe head made 450,000 years ago.
The trail also features the chance to drive a Roman chariot at the Teece Museum and discover a menagerie of exciting creatures hidden among the trees in the Botanic Gardens.
Find the animals, uncover every mystery and decipher each clue to fill the treasure book with special stamps.
Time Detectives is a partnership event between Canterbury Museum at CoCA, Tūranga, Christchurch Botanic Gardens Te Māra Huaota o Waipapa, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, Teece Museum.
